Every Friday and Saturday, we hosts live performances by wonderfully talented local musicians. They play a great variety of genres from Jazz to Rock, Classic to Pop.

Grandpa’s Spells

6 piece band - Dixieland Jazz

Led by Alistair McKay, Grandpa’s Spells is a fun and energetic 6 piece band, which will delight you with the sounds of New Orleans Jazz. It is guarantee to put a smile on your face! Simon Cook

Piano - Jazz / Classical / Tropical

Simon Cook is a true multi-talented artist! He is a Jazz piano player active in the Surrey and Berkshire area. He does regular solo gigs at Palette and also performs as the Simon Cook Trio.
He plays harpsichord, trombone and a number of early brass instruments: sackbut, ophicleide and serpent. He has collected several unusual instruments (theremin, claviola, melodica, zanzithophone), which he very occasionally plays in public with the band Arti Fiati.
Simon also trained as an ethnomusicologist, making a special study of gamelan music of Indonesia, where he lived for 12 years. He directs the Sundanese gamelan ensemble Sekar Enggal, and is a leading authority on the music of West Java.

Sarah Jane Weston

Singer - Jazz n Blues

As well as being a fantastic vocal tutor, Sarah is a jazz vocalist and a smooth Jazz n Blues singer. She took lessons from Ian Shaw, a top British vocalist with an ear for art and educational politics and later went to Trinity College of Music, where she met and studied under many more fantastic artists such as Trudi Kerr, Anita Wardell, Tina May, Anton Brown and Victoria Newton…if you know jazz then you know this lot really are at the top.

Whitney & Stilwell

Duo voice & guitar – Rock / Pop / Country

Michelle Whitney on vox and Gemma Stilwell on the guitar. Michelle has been offered a place at The Royal Academy of Music on the post-graduate musical theatre course starting September 2010! Throughout the year to help raise funds for her course, she will be singing with friend and talented musician Gemma as part of an Acoustic Duo performing popular covers in a mixture of Rock, Pop and County covers including The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac, Cyndi Lauper….

Mistral Quartet

4 piece chamber ensemble - Classic Clarinet quartet

Led by Elliott DeVivo, the Mistral Clarinet Quartet was formed in 2005 and gives recitals, both nationally and internationally. The quartet also plays at a variety of events including weddings, receptions, garden parties and local music festivals. The quartet enjoys ties with Imperial College, providing music for a variety of functions. It usually comprises three clarinets 
and a bass clarinet, but also features a basset horn and E flat, alto, and contra-alto clarinets.
Their ever‑growing repertoire spans everything from early music and classical favourites through to 21st century works. Following the success of their first UK tour, the quartet are now looking forward to further recitals and recording sessions in 2010.

Rae Evans

Singer Songwritter – Alternative / Acoustic / Jazz

Irish born, London based, Rae Evans is a singer, pianist and songwriter. She has a unique storytelling style and a soulful, jazzy voice. She has performed extensively in the UK and abroad with bands, jazz trios and classical ensembles, as well as having a great variety of studio experience. Rae currently performs with her collective Coraline. Rae plays a combination of original songs and classic covers with a modern twist.
A prolific lyricist, she writes to commission as well as for her own material. In October 2007, Rae became one of four finalists in the international song of the year (VH-1) from thousands of entrants. A passionate believer in music in all its forms, Rae also delivers music workshops and vocal coaching, and has coached on ITV’s Soapstar Superstar.
